FESTIVAL FILM BRITANNIQUE

Les élèves de 1^re et Terminale MG3 ont pu assister à deux séances lors du Festival du film britannique de Dinard.

C’est sous un soleil radieux et une mer d’émeraude que les élèves de 1^re et Terminale MG3 participent au 29^e Festival du film britannique de Dinard.

Après avoir immortalisé l’instant face à la statue d’Hitchcock, nous nous préparons à voyager dans le temps et l’histoire du Royaume Uni :

Le 1^er film « Royal Confident » nous permet d’être les témoins d’une histoire d’amitié bien peu protocolaire, entre la Reine Victoria et Abdul Karim, son serviteur indien. Avec humour et délicatesse, le réalisateur Stephen Frears, livre les dernières années du règne de celle qui fut l’un des personnages les plus marquants du 19^e siècle.

Nous sommes ensuite propulsés le 10 mai 1940, avec « Darkest Hour », de Joe Wright : alors que la seconde guerre mondiale devient une terrible évidence, le nouveau 1^er ministre, Winston Churchill doit prendre une décision qui plongera l’Angleterre dans le chaos mais qui donnera du courage à toute une nation.

Les deux films ont remporté un vif succès auprès des élèves !

‘On October 24^th 2018, we set off by coach from our High School at 8 am to the British Film Festival in Dinard. The timing was impeccable, we arrived just in time to watch the first movie ‘Confident Royal’ which was directed by Stephen Frears who is a well-known English film director. The film is based on a true story which illustrates the relationship between Queen Victoria and her Indian servant called Mohammed Abdul Karim. Queen Victoria gave him a number of honours which caused many tensions among the British members of the Royal Court. We appreciated the fact that the film was based on a true story’. Lambert (TMG3)

‘ Back in the cinema, we watched Darkest Hour, a film about Winston Churchill’s story shortly after he was elected Prime Minister, which highlights his decisive role against Hitler. Gary Oldman portrays the role of Winston Churchill and is simply stunning in this role. We clearly understand why he won the Oscar for best actor. At the end of the film, it was already time to go home, a great day that went by too quickly”. Matthias, Fabian, Nassim (TMG3)

‘Our favourite scene in this movie was when Churchill got out of his car and proceeded to go on the subway. He then asked people if they should sign a peace agreement with Hitler or continue to fight to lead Germany to its demise. The fellow subway travelers made the answer clear, which was to fight the Nazis. Churchill took the advice and did what he was told’. Andrew (TMG3)
